  • Hours vary depending on the availability of volunteers and the need for workforce
  • Local volunteers are expected to be available Mon-Sun from 9am to 9pm, Canadian Red Cross
  • provides support outside of these hours through its on-call response system
  • In larger scale emergencies, volunteers' may be deployed to support responses within or outside of Ontario and volunteers may be expected to be available 24/7 for support

Description (Service)

Trained volunteers and staff provide support and services to people affected by emergencies

  • for the first 72 hours following an incident (house fires, floods, wildfires etc) provide services such as provision of food, clothing, shelter, transportation, and emotional support
  • in large scale emergencies, Canadian Red Cross personnel work with governments and others organizations to assist affected individuals meet their basic needs
  • outside of emergencies, volunteers will also represent Canadian Red Cross at information sessions and community events to raise awareness on emergency preparedness
  • Volunteers are also expected to attend in-person and online meetings and trainings
