| Description (Service) | Branches located in Simcoe County and in Muskoka * distribute Christmas and Birthday gifts to seniors who are alone, lonely or isolated * seniors facilities provide names of residents who have no family or friends * a Christmas stocking and new sleepwear will be delivered to them * Adopt a Senior for Christmas Program - match Seniors with families who would like to "adopt" a senior for Christmas or any holiday * organizes fundraising and other events as well as a Christmas Lights Bus Tour in December for the residents of senior homes in Barrie Donations of new pajamas, nightgowns, slippers, housecoats, cuddly stuffed animals, playing cards/games, music CDs or items such as deodorant, hand lotion, face cream, soap, small boxes of cookies or candies or anything one would find in a Christmas stocking * cash donations can be made on-line or cheques sent by mail * pick up of donated items can be arranged Wishes are also granted throughout the year for Seniors in the community, plus inter-generational and educational programs are held Barrie Christmas Lights Bus Tour - Sunday December 15, 2019 * buses depart at approximately 6:30 pm from various seniors' residences: (not open to anyone, seniors are invited by Senior Wish and seniors facilities) * Twelve+ buses of Older Adults will tour the City of Barrie to view the Christmas light displays - their final stop of the evening will be at Heritage Park, Barrie waterfront, where Older Adults will be greeted by a team providing refreshments, along with special singers, and a very special guest (Santa) *buses will arrive at the waterfront around 7:15 pm, public is welcome to come out and greet the seniors along with Santa |
