Description and Service
Former Name North Simcoe Victim Crisis Services ; VCARS
Description (Agency) Assists the Police and other emergency services in meeting the needs of victims of crime and other tragic circumstances.
Description (Service) Deliver Victim Crisis Assistance Ontario (VCAO) program which includes on-site early intervention and crisis intervention. Staff provides safety planning * referrals to community services * * system navigation for vulnerable victims

Victim Quick Response Program (VQRP) -- immediate assistance with emergency expenses related to the incident, including emergency home safety, accommodation, meals, transportation, dependent care costs, counselling, cellular phones, vision care, crime scene cleanup, and funeral expenses * no direct reimbursement to victims* eligibility criteria
Eligibility Victims of crime and tragic circumstances * VQRP -- victims of violent crime who have no other financial resources
Application Referral by police, emergency services, community agency or self referral

Volunteer Description To become a volunteer: application form, interview, Police check, three references, 60-hour training (20 sessions), agree to be on-call for a minimum of 2 12-hour shifts per month, and Oath of Confidentiality required.Training: starts in the Fall, throughout the year
