Eligibility Ages: 16 year(s) and up 
To work on construction site, must be 16 years of age. Those who are age 16 and 17 must have parent's/guardian's consent. 
Criteria for Habitat Homeownership: 
Need for decent, affordable housing 
Family's present living conditions are overcrowded, unsafe or unhealthy 
Family's cost of housing is more than 30% of household gross income 
Family cannot qualify for conventional mortgage financing 
Ability to pay for and maintain a house 
Family is capable of making a mortgage payment every month 
Gross household income falls between $40,000 and $61,000 
Able to make mortgage and property tax payment if 25% of gross income 
Able to pay utilities, maintenance expenses, and property insurance 
Willingness to partner with Habitat for Humanity 
Family willing to complete 500 hours of sweat equity before moving in 
Willing to work alongside other volunteers 
Willing to help build own house, or work on other Habitat houses, in the ReStore or on other projects approved by the board of directors. 
Simcoe County Resident for at least two years 
Stable income 
Cohesive stable family unit 
Willingness to be a good neighbour 
OW, ODSP recipients and unemployed do not qualify.

Volunteer Description Volunteers required on construction sites (age 16 or older) to do general labour, lifting, carrying, wheelbarrowing, hammering, to help with insulation/vapor barrier, framing, drywalling, painting, etc. Skilled trades required to do plumbing, electrical, heating, roofing.  
Volunteers required to work in ReStore - loading/unloading vehicles, stocking shelves, shipping/receiving, warehousing, pricing, cleaning, cashier, pick ups and deliveries. 
All volunteers must follow Safety, Health and Environment policies and procedures.

Sup. Description Habitat for Humanity began in Orillia in 2004, initially as a chapter of Habitat for Humanity Huronia. In 2010, became a stand-alone affiliate of Habitat for Humanity Canada.  
Since 2004 we have built 3 homes in Orillia and one in Hawkestone (Oro-Medonte).  
In 2011, we opened a Habitat for Humanity ReStore  
In 2012 we built 2 homes in Brechin (Ramara Township)  
In 2013 1 home was built in Brechin (Ramara Township) 
In 2016 the ReStore was moved to 220 James St. in Orillia
