|Sup. Description||Our mission is to connect all links of our local food community through common policies, strategies, objectives and goals to grow a healthy and secure local food system. In partnership with the City of Orillia, The Sharing Place Food Bank, Orillia Community Gardens, Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit , many farmers, food producers and community organizations, we have developed a local food map, advocated for backyard hens, hosted public education events, and will continue to increase awareness of local food. We have adopted Simcoe County's Food & Agriculture Charter and are a member of Simcoe County Food Partners Alliance. We seek to be a catalyst for change through research, education, collaboration and policy development for a sustainable and secure local food system.
We endeavour to hold regular public interest and educational events throughout the year. We also offer opportunities for local food producers to network with each other to find ways to work together and collaborate to make their food more available locally. We support the efforts of local food programs and projects through sharing information and public awareness. We advocate with our local government (municipal and country) to improve awareness, education and availability of local food.
