The Penetanguishene Museum is housed in an 1875 Heritage Building, formerly the C. Beck Lumber office and General Store, showcasing the town's bilingual and Victorian past. The museum displays, documents and artifacts including:
the Abinaki and Huron tribes
Brulé, Champlain, Rocellet and Jesuit missionaries
logging, lumbering and industrial development
domestic, pioneer, retail and recreational items and exhibits
1903 Oldsmobile
replica of a 1891 Firehall.
Programming includes:
educational programs
kinder camps
special events
a research room, staffed by volunteers, with genealogical information on the local area.
Also has a gift shop and picnic area near the waterfront and occasional Art Exhibits.
