Description and Service
Description (Service) The enhanced driver’s licence is an upgrade to an Ontario driver’s licence that can be used as a travel document between Canada and the United States of America when traveling by land and water border crossings * nine ServiceOntario centres accept applications for the enhanced Ontario Driver's Licence 
 
The two ServiceOntario centers accepting appointments that are closest to Simcoe County are in Toronto at 47 Sheppard Ave E, Unit 417, or at 777 Bay St, Lower Level
Eligibility Must be a Canadian Citizen and an Ontario resident * must hold a valid driver's licence * must have no travel restrictions
Application To apply for an EDL, you must make an appointment and attend an in-person interview at a ServiceOntario centre that offers the full suite of EDL services

Booking an appointment
Appointments must be booked prior to attending an EDL service centre * book an appointment online at Service Ontario Appointment or by phoning ServiceOntario at or 1-800-387-3445 * you will be required to input your driver’s licence number when you are booking an appointment

Read Ontario Enhanced Driver’s Licence * application consists of verification of identity and Canadian citizenship, completion of the Citizenship Questionnaire for an Ontario Enhanced Driver's Licence, verification of travel entitlements, completion of a personal information consent form and an in-person interview at a designated ServiceOntario location

Documents required to bring to appointment:
* Valid Ontario driver's licence in good standing
* Valid proof of citizenship document
* Completed but unsigned copy of citizenship questionnaire
* Completed but unsigned copy of entitlement document
* Completed but unsigned copy of consent form
* Marriage certificate if applying under married name
Languages English ; French - Reception, Interpretation, Programs
Fees Service - $40 fee payable at appointment and non-refundable * this fee is in addition to the usual driver's licence fees
